Table of Contents

Banking Turmoil and external business pressures

Living under a rock would not have been able to hide the recent global issues due to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Credit Suisse. We are on the other side of these banking issues but are still in the woods regarding inflation and higher interest rates. I have found a great video by Ray Dalio on How the Economics System works; it provides a great introduction to our current cycle. A challenging time for business but also filled with opportunity. Now is the time to invest in the things that work; those companies that maintain business momentum during this period will have exponential growth on the other side.

At FiveCRM, we understand the pressures that may be placed on business, and if you need assistance during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team or Hollie, our Account Manager. We want to work with you to continue your company's growth and create a recession-proof environment for our customers.

Infrastructure Upgrade

We aim to increase server stability and speed of processes and enable you and your team to operate faster. We identified that we needed to improve our infrastructure. The first step was to migrate our servers to AWS. Conducting the upgrade to our infrastructure is the right move to increase the security, performance, and scalability of FiveCRM.

The migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been a fantastic learning experience for the FiveCRM team, and we are now 98% deployed onto AWS. In the first instance, the move to AWS has allowed us to increase our security posture through the enhanced security features offered by AWS, such as improved data encryption at rest and in transit. More importantly, it improved disaster recovery as a result of the migration. During the migration process, we identified a number of functional upgrades to the FiveCRM architecture that have been deployed and will be deployed in the future.

As part of the migration process, we identified several opportunities to increase system performance by significantly changing how FiveCRM handles and processes data. Since data is a cornerstone of the FiveCRM system, we needed to take a slow and systematic approach to ensure that data integrity remains at the forefront of our priorities. The improvements won’t necessarily be noticeable in a single update but rather in a series of updates to the platform throughout the year. Each iteration will remove valuable seconds from loading pages, generating reports, and so on. The platform will become snappier and smoother as we dig deeper into the data architecture.

SOC2 and ISO27001 Compliance

I want to recognize the importance of safeguarding our customers' data, and achieving SOC2 and ISO27001 compliance is a significant step in that direction. These standards are globally regarded and recognized frameworks for the best data security and management practices. Compliance with these frameworks will assure our customers that their data is safe, and we have taken all the necessary measures to secure it.

To achieve SOC2 and ISO27001 compliance, we will use Drata to manage the process and store our records to ensure we can expedite the process. Although we have already implemented a number of the elements of SOC2 and ISO27001 within FiveCRM, we are working towards getting them officially recognized through an audit. One of the key benefits of conducting this through Drata will be the transparency afforded to our customers through their access to the Drata Trust Centre. Achieving SOC2 and ISO27001 will allow all of our customers greater transparency regarding our security posture and access to formal documents for their compliance needs.

Achieving SOC2 and ISO27001 compliance is a significant milestone for FiveCRM. It demonstrates our commitment to data privacy and security and positions us as a trustworthy partner in the industry. We are excited to give our customers the peace of mind of knowing their data is safe and secure with FiveCRM.
